How It Works

How We Collect Data

Our Data Lake collects data from your entire infrastructure and stores it in a unified format. Agentless probes and a lightweight agent work together to give you complete visibility — without disrupting your environment.

Data Collection

Agentless Discovery via Probe

The ITVA Probe is our primary data collection method. It connects to your network devices, servers, and infrastructure using standard management protocols. No software is installed on monitored devices. The probe polls your infrastructure on a schedule, collecting configuration, state, and performance data.

  • SSH, SNMP, WMI, and REST API protocols
  • Zero installation on monitored devices
  • Configurable polling schedules
  • No impact to production traffic

Secure Connection to Your Instance

Every probe establishes a secure, encrypted connection to your dedicated ITVA instance. Data is transmitted over TLS and stored in an isolated environment provisioned exclusively for your organization.

  • Outbound-only — no inbound ports required
  • Dedicated, isolated cloud instance per customer
  • Data encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Zero impact to production traffic

Your Dedicated Cloud Platform

Every ITVA customer gets an isolated cloud instance with a full-featured web application. All data from probes and agents flows into a single, unified platform.

Dedicated Cloud Instance

Every customer gets an isolated cloud environment provisioned exclusively for their organization. Your data never co-mingles with other tenants.

Unified Data Lake

All data collected by probes and agents is normalized into a unified format — regardless of vendor, protocol, or device type.

Web-Based Platform

A full-featured web application provides dashboards, alerting, topology maps, CMDB, and management tools — accessible from any browser.

Encrypted at Every Layer

Data is encrypted in transit from probes and agents, encrypted at rest in the data lake, and served over HTTPS to the web app.

Role-Based Access Control

Granular RBAC ensures each team member sees only the infrastructure and data relevant to their role and responsibilities.

The Agent — Lightweight APM

An optional lightweight agent installs on your systems to provide deep application monitoring and network flow visibility that agentless polling can't capture.

Application Performance Monitoring

The ITVA lightweight agent installs on your servers and monitors applications at the process level. It captures which processes are running, what ports they listen on, and how they consume resources — giving you deep APM visibility without heavy instrumentation.

  • Process-level visibility per server
  • Port and resource consumption tracking
  • Minimal footprint — lightweight by design
  • No application code changes required

Network Visibility

Network Traversal Mapping

Beyond process monitoring, the agent tracks how application traffic traverses your network. It maps which services talk to which endpoints, traces the network path each connection takes, and ties it all back to the infrastructure topology discovered by the probe.

  • Full request path tracing across infrastructure
  • Service-to-service dependency mapping
  • Latency and throughput per connection
  • Correlated with probe topology data

How It All Ties Together

Probes & Agents Collect Data

Agentless probes poll your network devices, servers, and infrastructure using SSH, SNMP, WMI, and APIs. Lightweight agents on your servers capture process-level APM data and network flow traces. Together they cover every layer of your stack.

Data Lake Normalizes Everything

The ITVA Data Lake ingests vendor-specific output from Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Windows, Linux, and more — then normalizes it into a single unified format. No more translating between vendor CLIs or juggling incompatible data models.
